Services & Programs

The Hopi Tribal Court serves as the primary judicial body for the Hopi Reservation, providing justice services that honor our traditions while protecting the rights of all tribal members. From our headquarters in Keams Canyon, we offer guidance, restoration, and legal support to all Twelve Villages – including First Mesa, Second Mesa, Third Mesa, and Moencopi.

Probation & Re-Entry Services

Our probation programs go beyond traditional supervision. We focus on rebuilding lives within the Hopi community through a commitment to accountability and the traditional value of Kyapsti (respect).

Probation Information

Individuals placed on probation work closely with a Probation Officer and are required to follow court-ordered conditions, which may include:

  • Maintaining employment or school attendance
  • Following curfew or residency requirements
  • Avoiding alcohol or controlled substances
  • Limiting contact with victims or restricted individuals
  • Participating in testing, treatment, or counseling programs

The Probation Office provides:

  • Individualized Guidance: Tailored support plans
  • Accountability & Resources: Tools to meet legal obligations
  • Community Reintegration: Support for returning to family and community life
  • Family Support: Guidance for families navigating the process

Failure to follow probation conditions may result in additional court proceedings, including a hearing that could lead to further penalties.

Strengthening Our People Through Community Services

Justice at Hopi is about more than punishment; it is about restoring Sumyananwa. Our community programs address the root causes of conflict to help families and individuals find a path forward.

Healing Pathways

We work to restore balance and support healing within our villages and facilitate healing pathways that address the emotional and social impacts of conflict. By focusing on root causes rather than just symptoms, we foster sustainable peace within families and neighborhoods./p>
